Ancient Naturals Herbal Blends Review

I’m constantly on the look out for different herbal blends to smoke, burn, make tea with or use for a ritual bath (even just a relaxing bath!) And I seem to have hit the jackpot with Ancient Naturals.

They have a simple mission - ‘Our mission is to provide high quality, alternative mystical wares and all-natural handmade skin and hair care products. Ancient naturals promotes living a self-sustainable and non-toxic lifestyle, ethically sourcing high quality ingredients and products.’

And they offer a wide range of products, from the herbal blends, to incense, skin and hair care to mood oils. Honestly with my dopamine addiction it was difficult to just try one option! So I bought 3 smoking blends ;-) Calm, Awaken and Dream.

In my personal practice and day to day, I use smoke or the air element to change the energy of the space, to change my mood, to pray and to meditate. The element of air is one of change, movement, you can learn secrets from the wind if you listen enough… and in my shamanic work smoke is used to carry the prayers to great spirit. My preferred herb for prayer is tobacco or even better, proper Mapacho but in this day it is hard to get untreated tobacco, and for our health it is great to look into other options. Nature has so much to offer, and learning to work with and understand the subtlety of different herbs is a great knowledge building practice.

So finding these blends has been very exciting. Of the 3 so far, I have to admit Calm is probably my favourite, and it does what it says on the tin! Right now my life is calling for oodles of Calm!

Let’s break down the ingredients -

Calm - Lavender, Red Raspberry, Chamomile, Skullcap, Sage, Mullen

Awaken - Red Raspberry, Mugwort, Damiana, Lemon Balm, Peppermint, Mullen

Dream - Mugwort, Rose Petals, Chamomile, Calea Zacatechichi, Damiana, Mullen

If you’re into your herbs, you may recognise to power thats in these mixes just from looking at this list! For me the addition of Mullen to each is a winner, Mullen is supportive of lung health as well as many other things, so if you prefer to smoke than drink tea, it’s a great addition to any mix. I also love the Damiana in the Awaken and Dream blends. Damiana is a mood enhancer and gives energy. And Calea Zacatechichi in the Dream mix is known as a ‘dream herb’ and will support your Lucid dreaming. I'll write an update once I use this blend for my dream work.

All in all I would totally recommend these blends, head over to Ancient Naturals and check them out, let us know on IG what you think!
